Saint Nicolas

I was born and raised in this part of FRance which has been disputed by France and Germany many times over the centuries until the end of WW2.
We have kept many of the German traditions and Saint Nicolas is one of them.

Saint Nicolas is the Saint Patron of the children. He comes every December 6th to give presents and chocolate. The tradition says he let presents in your shoes that you have to let near the front door.

Our Saint Nicolas come in the house and let the presents on the dinning table.

Here in Luxembourg Saint Nicolas is often the main celebration and Chritmas is lower key... We have just the opposite, keeping the traditions from our roots.

You can read the legend of Saint Nicolas here:

Yet it is really the kick off of the festive season!

I wish everyone a lovely December 6th and festive season.
